Think, Explore, Explain

Think
When I find my favorite web pages, I add them to bookmark. Now I installed firefox portable in my USB drive, and it enable me to access my favorite web pages easily whenever and wherever.

Expore
By sending e-mail, we can publicize our user name.
we can share information and know interests which other members have. These are benefits we can identify in participating in an open knowledge network such as Delicious.

Explain
1. To read explanation of downloading carefully, to understand the software itself, and to download it are skills which are needed to use social software.
2. Social software make it easy to use computer.
3. I' m not sure.
4. Social bookmarking is very useful because
we can add many web pages to bookmark and find web pages which we want to see easily by tag. it will promotes my development.

1. What is the principle of six degrees of separation? What number of social links does any one person need to be connected to global society? p. 30

There are six people between one and his or her acquaintance. That is the principle of six degrees of separation. So six social links are needed to be connected one person to global society.


2. How is the fabric of society today different from pre-internet society? p. 31

Today, people can get information or connection by clicking mouse.


3. How many more links separate any pair of web pages compared to people in society? What can explain the difference? p. 34

There are nineteen links among web pages.


4. So far, what ranges of separation have network scientists discovered in different kinds of networks? p. 34

Network scientists have discovered ranges of separation in several networks such as food webs, molecules in the cell.


5. What does research suggest about the fundamentals of networks? p.34-35

Networks require only one link per node from a giant cluster.


6. What is your estimate of your personal number of connections to society? What connections are your strongest?

barabasi's answers

1. Paul relaxed strict rule of Christianity such as circumcision. Moreover, he spread Christianity to civilized world where social networks developed. These are elements or factors of Paul’s success.

3. Maps of the internet, company or interactions between species and ecosystems have been made of our interconnectivity.
4. Maps have a common blue print.
5. The author defines that the nature of most scientific research in the 20th century was reductionism. However, it is hard to deal with everything by reductionism because everything is connected with each other complexly. That is a problem of reductionism.
6. Barabasi predicts that networks will be the new focus of scientific research in coming era.
